Performance of Kharif Potatao Cv. Kufri Pukhraj for Growth, Yield and Quality Attributes Under Organic Management Conditions

The present investigation was carried out at the faculty centre of Integrated Rural & Tribal Development and Management under the School of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Morabadi, Ranchi-834008, Jharkhand, India at 23.230 N latitude and 85.230E longitude with the altitude of 2,140 feet above sea level during kharif season of 2015 to study the performance of Kharif Potato Cv. Kufri Pukhraj for growth, yield, and quality attributes under organic management conditions. The experiment was framed out by adopting CRBD model with seven treatments and four replications for the each. The treatment combinations were: T1– Azolla mixed Shasyagavya (10%); T2– Azolla mixed Shasyagavya (15%); T3– Vegetable waste mixed Shasyagavya (10%); T4– Vegetable waste mixed Shasyagavya (15%); T5– Potato peels mixed Shasyagavya (10%);T6– Potato peels mixed Shasyagavya (15%);T7– Control(without any liquid formulations). From the present investigation, it may be concluded that in terms of yield T4 (vegetable wastes mixed Shasyagavya 15%) is the best treatment with yield potentiality of 13.94 t.ha-1 but when quality attributes were taken into consideration then T1 (Azolla mixed Shasyagavya 10%) emerged as the best although T4 treatment materialized as average to above average performer in terms of almost all quality traits under studied. Similarly, when benefit: cost ratio was taken into account then T4 again emerged as the best treatment with B:C ratio of 4.49. Hence, T4 treatment may be recommended for even commercial scale organic kharif potato cultivation in the South Chhotanagpur plateau regions of Jharkhand.
