About the Programme
This programme was initiated in 2018 with the financial assistance of the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Co-operative, Government of Jharkhand and the academic session for the programme was started from 2019. The course curriculum is at par the Fifth Deans Committee’s recommendation consisting of topics like agricultural sciences, genetics and plant breeding, use of modern scientific equipment, farming systems and sustainable agriculture, cultivation of fruits, vegetables, spices and flowers, medicinal and aromatic plants, land surveying, soil science, water resource management, dry land agriculture, integrated nutrient management, integrated pest and diseases management and animal and poultry management. Besides, some value-added courses are also incorporated to address the basic needs of skill enhancement including moral development.
The programme focuses on modern agricultural requirements and deals with topics like production issues facing farmers, agribusiness and other related issues of farming industry. Different elective courses are offering in this programme in 2nd & 3rd year (in 4th, 5th and 6th semester). The programme is also included with Student READY (Rural and Entrepreneurship Awareness Development Yojana) programme with its Experiential Learning (EL), Rural Agriculture Work Experience (RAWE), Agro-Industrial Attachment, Hands-on Training (HOT) / Skill Development Training components offer in the 4th year (7th & 8th semester).

NOTE :
Although the ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) approval has not been received for running this programme, it is being run as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Jharkhand Government’s Department of Agriculture and RKMVERI (Deemed-to-be-University). Further it is clarified that the ICAR approval is not mandatory as per rules.
