Effect of different concentrations of sanjivani on yield of mustard

The present investigation has been conducted at the experimental farm of Integrated Rural & Tribal Development and Management Faculty Centre of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Morabadi, Ranchi, Jharkhand during the rabi season of 2013-14.Sanjivani [a low/no cost organic liquid manure prepared by mixing cow dung, cow urine and water @ 1:1:2 proportion in an earthen pot or bucket followed by their aerobic decomposition (by stirring twice daily at least 10 times clockwise and anti-clockwise directions preferably during morning and afternoon hours, respectively) for 7-9 days] with its different concentrations were used as different treatments for supplying nutrients to the experimental crop variety. Several treatments used for the study were: T1: 5%Sanjivani; T2: 7.5% Sanjivani; T3: 10% Sanjivani; T4: 12.5% Sanjivani; T5: 15% Sanjivani; T6: 17.5% Sanjivani; T7: 20% Sanjivaniand T8: No Sanjivani (absolute control). Pusa Agrani variety of mustard was employed as seeding material for the experiment. The layout of the experimental plots has been arranged after Randomized Block Design considering three replications for each treatment. The experimental treatments had shown significant differences among different treatments when yield related parameters were taken into consideration. As a consequence, the highest yield (1.77 t/ha) was recorded from the T6 treatment where 17.5% Sanjivani was applied followed by the 10% concentration of Sanjivani (T3 treatment) with the yield potentiality of (1.71 t/ha). The lowest yield (1.29 t/ha) as expected was recorded in control plot where no organic input was applied.
