Production of Trichoderma viride and study of its effective growth and viability under various carrier material compositions
Sailash Kumar
Present study was conducted with a view to isolate Trichoderma viride and shows its effects (like growth, spore formation and viability) under various carrier materials composition. Along with that the aim was to produce contamination free Trichoderma virideand also to produce compatible product to Trichoderma viride and Azotobacter. The major findings of the study are summarized after in the following text: The effect of either Neem oil or antibiotic both on the growth of Trichoderma viride and other fungi which were studied and found that they are capable enough to check the contamination during Trichoderma viride isolation. The growth and sporulation of Trichoderma viride in different carrier materials (FYM + Sand+ rice husk and Vermi compost + sand + rice husk) were studied. The growth and spore formulation was counted within 6-8 days it was found that the numbers of the spores were sufficient in both the carrier materials. In Talcum powder, growth and spore formulation was completed in the liquid medium and sufficient amount of the broth culture was mixed with Talcum powder for the survival of the spores and multiplication under congenial field conditions. Azotocter and Trichoderma viride are compatible with each other in any of the materials like (FYM + Sand+ rice husk and Talcum powder) and if produced at large scale it would be of great benefit for the farming community. There is a great possibility of the popularization of this fungicide and this can be achieved by strong rural extension programme and by making people aware.
