RKMVERI (Ranchi campus) in collaboration with Divyayan KVK, Ranchi celebrated the World Environment Day (Theme: Solutions to Plastic Pollution). The celebration was started with a mango tree plantation by Revered Swami Bhaveshananda Maharaj, Administrative Head of RKMVERI at university campus which was followed by a cultural programme in Ashrama auditorium. The chief guest of the programme was Dr. Abhijit Kar, Director, ICAR-NISA. The programme was started with Vedic chanting by Ph.D. scholars and lighting lamp by Bhaveshananda Maharaj, chief guest and other dignitaries. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal co-ordinator (Acting), Divyayan KVK addressed the audience through sharing his views on environment safety. Afterwards, students from B.Sc. (Agriculture) Hons. (Batch-2022), ARTD (Batch-2022) and BVSA (Batch-2022) delivered presentations on Plastic pollution and its solution, Climate change and its effects on agriculture and Water scarcity, respectively. Two visiting farmers also shared their views on eco-friendly natural farming/organic farming practices.
The chief guest, Dr. Abhijit Kar, Director, ICAR-NISA delivered his special lecture on the occasion to celebrate this special day. He pointed out devastating impacts of climate change on earth and motivated audience to adopt eco-friendly approaches as much as possible. Benedictory speech was thereafter delivered by Revered Swami Bhaveshananda Maharaj, Administrative Head of RKMVERI. At the end, Prof. Raghava Thakur, Associate Dean, RKMVERI, Ranchi delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was attended by 70 farmers, 85 students (Male: 45 and Female: 40) and staffs from RKMVERI, Ranchi and Divyayan KVK. Post programme, there was a poster competition session for the students of RKMVERI at university campus, in which 36 posters were evaluated by judge’s panel comprising Dr. Avijit Kr. Dutta, Assoc. Professor, Dr. Saikat Biswas, Asst. Professor, Dr. Ardith Sankar, Asst. Professor and Dr. Soumik Dey, Asst. Professor. Revered Swami Bhaveshananda Maharaj and chief guest also visited the poster exhibition area. The entire event was co-ordinated by Dr. Saikat Biswas, Asst. Professor and Dr. Pooja Yadav, Asst. Professor, RKMVERI, Ranchi.
